Program Description

Event Details

A virtual chess class for kids who understand how to move all of the pieces and understand all of the rules of play. The class will be taught by Team DIG instructor Carter Clayton.  Registration is required as space is limited; once your registration has been confirmed, you can create an account on chess.com, which you will use during the class.

Carter Clayton has been playing competitive tournament chess for 7 years and has loved every minute of it. He helped organize the Webster Hill Elementary School chess club and tournaments. On Friday nights Carter can often be found in a study group with players rated over 2000. He is an avid online player with an all-time highest rating of 2200 on chess.com. He won the middle school chess championship for Connecticut in the 2018-2019 year. Carter has been a member of the New Britain Chess Club for the past six years where he most recently tied for first at their Summer Open 2021 (under 1621 section).
