An Inside Look at the Invention Process

IdeasOn Thursday, August 13, the Farmington Libraries will host inventor Marcie Mariani to discuss her experience with the invention process. This event will take place at 7:00 p.m. at the Farmington Main Library at 6 Monteith Drive.

Inventors and would-be inventors are encouraged to attend to gain insight into the experience of inventing from Marcie Mariani, inventor of the Squarely Alex Headband. She will discuss the invention process all the way from forming an idea to going into production.

This event is part of Farmington Libraries’ adult summer reading program, centered around the 2009 memoir The Boy Who Harnessed the Wind by William Kamkwamba, a young inventor growing up in poverty-stricken Malawi. Unable to afford school, William spent his spare time teaching himself about electricity using library books, eventually building a wind-powered turbine out of salvaged materials in order to provide his family with electricity.

This event is free and open to the public. Please register in advance for this program by calling the library at 860-673-6791, using the online registration form, or visiting the Information Services Desk.

The Farmington Library is part of the Farmington Village Green and Library Association.  If you have special needs to attend library programs, contact the library in advance.
