The Farmington Main Library bee-bopped and doo-wopped with the best of them on Tuesday night when the Farmington Valley Chorus chapter of the Sweet Adelines performed to a full house. Twenty-five of the chorus’s forty-five members came out and sang a variety of songs — some new tunes, but many familiar favorites that had the crowd tapping their feet. We even had two retired Sweet Adelines in the audience who ventured out to enjoy this new wave of singers.
The night proved extra special as we all learned that this local chapter of the Sweet Adelines (from Simsbury) had actually participated in a regional competition of Sweet Adelines chapters and had won the region. In ten days they will be leaving for Hawaii where they will represent the State of Connecticut and our region in the Sweet Adelines national competition!
We were so thrilled to be able to hear some of the songs the chorus will sing in their championship round and were delighted to be able to wish them the best of luck and, of course, aloha!
