In partnership with Northwest Connecticut SCORE, the Farmington Library will host a workshop on starting a small or home-based business. This program will take place on Tuesday, November 10 at 6:30 p.m. at the Main Library, located at 6 Monteith Drive.
This workshop will cover the basic steps for starting a small business in Connecticut, with a special emphasis on home based businesses and the special steps for operating out of your home. Topics will include dealing with local zoning restrictions, special considerations when operating out of your home, and the basic steps for starting a small business in general. Issues relating to the business environment and resources available in Connecticut will also be covered.
Presenter Tom Schoenemann, Ph.D., is a veteran Northwest Connecticut SCORE counselor and author of the guide “Starting a Small Business in Central & Northwest Connecticut,” which will be one of the resources distributed at the workshop. He is also the Chair of the Economic Development Commission in the Town of Harwinton. SCORE is a national volunteer organization that provides free counseling to existing and start-up small businesses.
