Professor-Led Book Discussion Group: “The Bride Price” by Buchi Emecheta

EmechetaOn Thursday, March 20, the Farmington Libraries welcome Professor Nels Highberg as he leads our classic book discussion on the novel, The Bride Price, by Buchi Emecheta. This event will take place at 7:00 p.m. at the main library at 6 Monteith Drive.

The Bride Price is about a Nigerian girl who is allowed to finish her education because a diploma will enhance her bride price, but she then rebels against traditional marriage customs.

Nels Highberg holds a PhD from the University of Illinois and is an Associate Professor of Rhetoric and Writing at the University of Hartford.

Copies of the book will be available at the main library. This event is free and open to the public. Advanced registration is required for this program. Please call 860-673-6791 for details or register using this link.  It is free and open to the public.
