Local landscape artist, Jim Laurino, will display over thirty paintings in the Main Library’s Community Room for his June show entitled, “Connecticut Landscapes.”
Jim Laurino began painting in his early teens and eventually studied painting and color theory at the University of Connecticut. He initially began painting marine subjects but over time formed a more lasting interest in painting landscapes. He uses a course and vibrant painting style that has been refined through workshops.
All of Jim’s paintings are displayed in custom frames, which he makes out of re-claimed materials. His landscapes have been juried into numerous regional exhibitions including the Granby Land Trust Art Show (2011, 2012) and the annual Connecticut Academy of Fine Arts (CAFA) exhibit (2008, 2010, 2012). He is an Associate Artist member of the Lyme Art Association and an elected member of the Connecticut Academy of Fine Arts (CAFA).
On June 15th from 1:00-3:00pm, Jim will demonstrate his oil painting technique. He will paint a local scene, and enage the audience on all aspects of plein air painting and custom framing. His aggressive and deliberate painting style, unique hand crafted frames, and passion for painting on location are sure to make this a worthwhile event for all art enthusiasts. This event will take place at the Farmington Main Library at 6 Monteith Drive. Please register for this program by using this link.
