Pianist, John Brighenti, and vocalist, Orice Jenkins, bring the songs of Nat King Cole to life in an entertaining and informative performance!
John Brighenti is a graduate of the Hartt College of Music where he studied both classical piano and music theory. After graduating, he enrolled at the Hartford Conservatory of Music to further pursue his musical studies. These studies included courses in big band arranging and jazz piano techniques. Brighenti next traveled to New York to study jazz improvisation with the world-renowned jazz pianist and composer, Lennie Tristano. Brighenti went on to tour the United States playing piano for the Glenn Miller Orchestra under the direction of Jimmy Henderson in the late 1970s. Since then he has played with the Eddie Howard, Al Gentile, and Chic Chicetti Orchestras well as Paul Landerman’s Group. His venues have included the 880 Club, the Hartford Club, Foxwoods, Cavey’s and Carmen Anthony’s and many more. John has also performed at the Hartford Public Library’s popular Baby Grand Jazz Series.
Orice Jenkins, a Hartford native, is a singer, composer and bandleader. He recorded his first two CDs while simultaneously studying classical music at the Hartt College of Music, teaching at various schools in his hometown of Hartford, and working as musical director for numerous acts in the Northeast.
