On Friday, December 4, the Farmington Libraries will host the Alturas Duo with their unique take on chamber music. The concert will begin at 2:00 p.m. at the Farmington Main Library, located at 6 Monteith Drive.
The Alturas Duo has been recognized as one of the most engaging ensembles performing in the chamber music world today. The only group of its kind, the Duo was formed with the idea of playing South American and classical music by bringing together the unusual combination of the viola, charango and guitar, and in doing so, creating passionate music that moves at ease between the Baroque, South American folk rhythms and new pieces written especially for the Duo. The performances of Scott Hill (guitar) and Carlos Boltes (charango and viola) oscillate from the beautiful and serene to strong and pulsating, taking audiences on a journey to new musical heights.
This event is made possible by Richard P. Garmany through a grant awarded by the Hartford Foundation for Public Giving. The Farmington Libraries will be hosting a variety of performances throughout the year as part of the Richard P. Garmany Music Series.
This event is free and open to the public. Please register in advance for this program by calling the library at 860-673-6791, using the online registration form, or visiting the Information Services desk. If you have special needs to attend library programs, contact the library in advance.
