On Friday, July 10, the Farmington Libraries will open for the first season of its Farmers Market, featuring locally grown fruit, vegetables, as well as coffee, baked goods, pottery, and more. Markets will take place every Friday from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., rain or shine, at the Farmington Main Library at 6 Monteith Drive.
The Farmington Libraries feel that organizing a high-quality farmer’s market is a natural fit with its mission of providing service beyond expectations. “We want to provide the community with a place to gather and buy fresh, local produce and support Connecticut farms and small businesses,” says Jay Johnston, Executive Director of the Farmington Libraries.
Farms for the 2015 season include Barden Farm, Woodland Farm, George Hall Farm, Dondero Orchards, and Mountain View Farm. Other featured vendors include Café Louise, Chet’s Italian Ice, Better Baking by Beth, Give Coffee, and Pterodactyl Pottery. A variety of visiting vendors will also be present throughout the season.
