Build Your Own Bottle Rocket

Wednesday, August 9
6:30 PM
Main Library

Science, crafting, and fun go hand-in-hand for this hands-on activity, inspired by the bestselling book and Oscar-nominated film Hidden Figures!

Your team will design, build, and launch a bottle rocket. Bottle rockets (also known as water rockets) use the same phsyics as NASA’s rockets, but with water and air instead of fuel! A rocket engine uses high pressure to force a fluid through a small opening, creating a force that propels the rocket.

Adults and kids ages 10+ can form teams of up to 4. Space is limited. Registration is required.

This program is part of the Farmington Libraries Summer Reading Program, focusing on the book Hidden Figures: The American Dream and the Untold Story of the Black Women Who Helped Win the Space Race, written by Margot Lee Shetterly.
